I’ve started writing a book, and it feels both exciting and terrifying. It’s one of those projects that has been sitting in my mind for several years, and now I’m finally giving it life... on that initial blank page.

Right now, I’m still in the early stages: world building, character building, and letting the story unfold one chapter at a time. I’m learning that writing a book is not just about having an idea, it’s about showing up for it, even when the process feels messy or uncertain, and let me tell you, it's been messy! Besides taking a few creative writing classes more than a decade ago, I am NOT a writer.

What I love most so far, is that writing this book is giving me a place to explore creativity in a new way. I find bits of my favorite Science Fiction books, movies, and shows coming into the mix, even a specific classic zombie idea, coming together on the pages, building something new, unique and mine. Uniquely mine - something creatives relish.

Every part of world building, attempting to organize ideas, and the writing itself is teaching me something new. I LOVE research and being scientifically accurate is important to me. Researching current tech, space travel theories, debating If time dilatation should be part of the story or not, learning about Moss-that-drinks-the-sky, a real moss, and bringing the here and now into my fantasy world.

The Last Light We're Lent is solar punk leaning, depicting a budding future for the human race that isn't there just yet. It's space adventure centered, exploring real classifications of planets, lending from the imagination, and sprinkling in creativity for zest. The book is deeply emotional too, exploring long term loneliness, isolation, and grief, along side hope and overwhelming odds.

For now, I’m happy to say that the first chapter exist and I am excited to share my deep love of Sci-Fi worlds with you, dear reader.
