About
I’m Rachel Beeson, an artist with an unwavering passion for creativity, expression, and the vast possibilities of the universe. My work is deeply inspired by science fiction, a genre that has shaped my worldview and drives my artistic vision. I aim to create pieces that inspire hope, wonder, and curiosity, transporting viewers to a future that celebrates humanity’s potential for progress, compassion, and unity. Through my vibrant sci-fi oil paintings, I invite others to imagine a boundless future where possibilities are limitless.
My Story
My journey as an artist has been a winding path filled with discovery and growth. After earning an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts, I took a break from formal education to support my family. Years later, I returned to school to pursue my true calling in the arts, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a 2D emphasis. This journey culminated in my induction into the Tau Sigma National Honor Society in January 2022, a moment that marked both personal achievement and a deeper commitment to my craft.

This journey has also led me to establish VariaFlux Art Hub, a space dedicated to empowering 2D fine artists through accessible resources, education, and opportunities. My passion is not only in creating art but also in fostering a community where fellow artists can grow and thrive. As I look ahead, I am excited to collaborate with others, create art that sparks joy and change, and provide tools that help fellow artists build sustainable careers.

Inspiration and Creativity
I draw peace and inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes of the Southwestern Sonoran Desert, where nature offers the perfect backdrop for reflection and creativity. As an introvert, I recharge through kayaking, yoga, camping, and quiet moments in the outdoors. At home, I share my space with a freshwater community aquarium, a curious corn snake, and a loud yet lovable cat—all of whom bring balance and joy to my life. Music is an essential part of my creative process; Doom Metal and Psychedelic Rock set the tone as I explore imaginative worlds inspired by Science Fiction. Themes of exploration, discovery, and transformation deeply influence my work, particularly in the realms of space and sci-fi art.

Current Projects and Future Directions
This year marks an exciting chapter in my artistic journey as I expand my practice with new projects and complete my undergraduate degree. I am also honored to join the International Association of Astronomical Artists, where I will have access to invaluable resources and opportunities to deepen my exploration of the cosmos through art. With every piece I create, I strive to push the boundaries of imagination and creativity—and I look forward to what lies ahead as I continue this adventure.
